Bon Vivant: Off & Running

1. I just wrote something horribly rude about fashion bloggers in general which, upon review, I deemed entirely unsuitable to posting.

2. I do not think that is a good way to start off an enterprise like this, regardless of how quirky or spunky I think it makes me look.
3. I have been debating what to write about first, and in the face of a flurry of notions, I have decided on a decent ramble to kick things off properly (semi-properly).

FASHION THOUGHT:

Do not try to be what you are not.

This may seem completely obvious, but the other day I, with creeping efficiency, read an article in a heretofore unnamed fashion magazine that gave Kate Moss' Tips On Style. One of said bits of sartorial wisdom fell along the lines of "I just roll out of bed and throw something together, then walk out the door. That works."

Au contraire, I do not believe this works for everyone. It works for her, but not everyone (and I, and you, fall into this category), is Kate Moss. I just found the whole thing irritating. This is why I prefer to blaze my own path with only passing regard for such advice because really, find what works for you and do that. Reading magazines is certainly helpful... but as with everything in life, take this with a grain of salt.
DESIGNER DITHERING:

Mark Fast, knitter-extraordinaire, that prodigal figure like a cross between Yves Saint Laurant and your grandmother, just showed his Fall 2010 RTW collection in London.

I appreciate his work, certainly, though he is not in the highest echelons of my radar. HOWEVER, please take note of the surprisingly un-emaciated women sporadically donning his fine knitwear dresses. Is that a body I spy? Compare slide 5 to slide 20. I would rather hug 5. And when we're talking garmentry made of yarn, I prefer hugs to toothpicks.
